Commemorative Brick Campaign - The Friends of the Desert Outdoor Center are offering a way for those who treasure their time outdoors to leave a legacy of your visit to Lake Pleasant—the Commemorative Brick Campaign. Become a permanent part of the Desert Outdoor Center by purchasing a personalized, commemorative brick to be placed in the new, handicapped accessible Patio. Whether you choose to add your own name or to honor a loved one, every commemorative brick helps support the ongoing educational and conservation programs of the Desert Outdoor Center. Classroom Critter Pen Pal Program - The Friends of the Desert Outdoor Center Critter Pen Pal Program is a one of a kind learning experience for classes and youth groups! There truly is no other interactive program like it! Sponsors may correspond with one animal that lives in the Desert Outdoor Center Animal Exhibit Hall through a series of four letters. An “introduction packet” contains a thank you letter, a photo, a certificate of sponsorship, species profile sheet and the first letter. Letters are written from the animal or caretaker/park ranger’s perspective. Letter themes include cold-blooded animals, venomous creatures, shedding, diet, and hibernation. The correspondence among a series of letters enables the animal or park ranger to personalize and answer some specific questions from the children’s responding letters. This program offers students a fun and interesting avenue to practice sentence formation, letter writing and spelling, while learning about Sonoran Desert creatures! Adopt an Animal Program - Are you looking for a unique, one of a kind gift? Do you want to teach your class or scout troop more about the animals that surround them? Do you think your family tree could use some livening up? Then adopt an animal!

What a great way to remember a field trip to the Desert Outdoor Center by sponsoring one of our animals. Learn more about the animal you adopt with a fact sheet and hang your adopted animal’s picture among your family photos.

Desert Outdoor Center Water Bottles

Ban the Bottle Campaign - Please join the Friends of the Desert Outdoor Center in the environmental push to Ban the Bottle. This is an effort to reduce plastic waste from the use of disposable water bottles. Bulk quantities of the following water bottles can be purchased for your students. Ban the Bottle Order Form
